Hey all you wannabe mandolin players who are wondering where to start, well look no further. I've teamed up with the folks at Lessonface in New York City to offer a live in studio or online 1 hour beginner mandolin workshop on Saturday October 7 titled "So You Want to Play the Mandolin"
"So You Want to Play the Mandolin" is designed for the beginner - those folks who are interested in playing the mandolin but don't know where to start. Learn the basics of holding, tuning and playing your first notes and chords on the mandolin, and by the end of the session you will be playing your first song on the mandolin! The goal is to get students started on their mandolin journey, and the only prerequisite is that you have a mandolin, a few picks, an electronic tuner and a desire to play mandolin.
HOW IT WORKS: Students attend and interact live by joining over the Lessonface high performing video conference platform OR by coming into the Lessonface Classroom in the West Village of Manhattan. The live classes are recorded so enrolled students can also watch and review later. Class recordings are available within 48 hours of the live class session. The cost of the workshop is $30

Solo mandolin at the Saratoga Springs Farmers Market
I'll be teaching again with Pete Wernick and other instructors at Silver Bay Bluegrass Camp on beautiful Lake George, NY, from June 25-30 2017. This unique music camp for all bluegrass instruments is at the Silver Bay Conference and Family Retreat Center. There will be instrument classes, coached jams, harmony singing instruction, band labs and much more. The location is a beautiful spacious campus with a wealth of outdoor and indoor activities. I will be the Strolling Mandolinist for the Outdoor opening of the Saratoga Farmers market on Wednesday May 3 from 3:00pm till 6:00pm. I'll be playing a wide variety of mandolin music, from fiddle tunes to Italian melodies. Drop on by, give a listen, and do some shopping at this great farmers market at High Rock Park in Saratoga Springs, NY.
I will be teaching a weekly Wernick Method Bluegrass jamming class at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, NY beginning Monday April 24 The class will be held on Monday evenings from 6-9 pm and it will run for 5 weekly sessions and the last class will be May 22.
